Why I Got into Fitness:
I started my exercise journey when I was in middle school. My father got me into exercise because I wanted to get better at soccer and had weight I needed to lose. After achieving success in losing weight I became obsessed with exercise and how it made me feel. In high school I went on to be a multiple time state wrestling champion. I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA and full ride scholarship to the University of Arizona. I started my fitness career at Bally Total Fitness and was the #1 Training director in the nation of 400 clubs. I started Prestige Fitness with my best friend Joe in 2008 and since then have helped transform thousands of lives! Every day is a great day and I feel very blessed to call Tucson my home.

My Education:
I was a graduate of the University of Arizona in 2006 with my Bachelors of Science in Physiology and minor in Chemistry. Go Cats! I have been in the fitness industry for over 15 years.

Community Involvement:
I think being a local business owner it’s so important to get out in the community and help as much as possible. Some of the organizations I am a part of include: Ronald McDonald House, Angel Charity for the kids, Tucson Museum of Arts, Deltas Sorority and the Salvation Army.

Fun Fact:
I speak fluent Assyrian and beat my middle school teacher in Chess when I was 10.

I was born and raised in Grand Rapids Michigan received my graduate degree in counseling from University of Arizona and stayed in Tucson. I retired from my counseling faculty position at Pima Community College eleven years ago and really enjoy my second career working at Prestige Fitness.

Why I Got Into Fitness?
I help people become pain free using specific exercises to correct posture deviations. I learned about these posture exercises from seeking out help with my own pain. I was in four car accidents over four decades. As a result I have stenosis in my cervical and lumbar spine. I have always been very active as a dancer, runner, weight trainer, Pilates instructor and tried everything I could think of to eliminate the chronic pain I had in my hips and neck. Posture Fitness taught me how to correct the deviations that created pain. I now wake up every morning pain free.

Education:
I have been certified PAS by Egoscue University for 7 years. I retired from my counseling faculty position at Pima Community College eleven years ago and really enjoy my second career and my association with Prestige Fitness.

What got you into being an RD?
During my undergraduate life studying anthropology, I dealt with a borderline eating disorder and extreme IBS. While trying to deal with my own health issues and learning about the health habits of past cultures I became interested in the effects of various lifestyles and diseases have on our own health. After completing my undergraduate work in anthropology, I decided to make a career shift and went back to earn a Master’s degree in nutrition. However, realized nutrition is only one piece of the wellness puzzle. I saw that many of my patient’s symptoms were due to stress and other lifestyle factors. As an RD, I focus on personalized care through whole foods and mind-body practices to help clients along the journey to optimal health and wellness.

What got me into fitness?
Fitness started as a hobby for me, helping friends workout, trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, staying in physical good shape. It wasn’t until I had a random opportunity to train kids did it become one of my main passions in life. Now I try and live it and be a good example to fellow trainers, clients and friends around me.

Masters in Molecular Biology
ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Certified

Community involvement:

Always wanted to maintain my connection with training kids because it’s what brought me into training; always a good feeling when you know you’re helping kids grow a healthy foundation at a early age to build upon as they grow older.

What should a client know about you?
I’ll train you as if you were family because you’re health is not something I take for granted, your goals are my goals and we will always grow together taking one step at a time. I love music, classical has a very special place in my heart. I love taking the “road less traveled” and discovering new things around me and about me. I ask a lot of questions and not afraid to share my experience and pitfalls in my own journey to fitness, so please ask!

Why I Got Into Fitness:
Have competed in various Scottish Heavy Athletic Games, Bodybuilding Master competitions and recently came in second in a Fit Mom’s competition. Age is a factor in physical fitness but not a deterrent. I did not get really fit till I was 50 and I credit hiring a personal trainer with that, which is why I became one.

Factoid:
when I was putting together a workout program for first responders a couple of years ago I decided to take the police entrance physical fitness test. I got the highest score in push ups and sit ups per minute for females and beat most of the male candidates which surprised me. I run like a snail but scored ok on that due to age.☺

I would say my specialties in training is body shaping, strength building, working with injuries and weight loss.

Why I Got Into Fitness:
I have always been fairly active since I was a child. I had summers filled with bike-riding and swimming. I took dance in elementary school. I did volleyball in middle School and swimming in high school. Even though I stayed fairly active, it was never really a passion until I found weightlifting. Once I was introduced, I fell in love with how I could mold and sculpt my body almost like a piece of art. Being a creative person, this hooked me. If you ask anyone that knows me personally, they’ll tell you that my passion becomes my obsession and I’ll try to find out as much as I can about that subject. That, combined with my passion for always wanting to help people, led me to become a personal trainer.

Why I Got Into Fitness:
I moved down here to Tucson from Apache Junction, Arizona four years ago for pharmacy school at the U of A. I didn’t know many people here so aside from working full time with school full time, I started going to the rec to work out how I knew how to work out, which was not much. I walked right past the weight room and went upstairs where I felt more comfortable. A year later, I met a friend who introduced me to weightlifting. I remember feeling like jello for a while but oddly loved it. Ever since then, I find that being in a gym or working out in any way is my passion. I love the idea of changing the human body into anything I want. I then realized that being in the fitness industry is the way I needed to go, not pharmacy.
